Auxiliary reverse light

Featured Replies

Hi,

We live down a narrow driveway and are often reversing out at night. I was thinking about adding an additional reverse light, possible a slim LED bar under the bumper.

Has anyone done this or would using some brighter LED bulbs be sufficient?

Thanks

Matt

Reverse in so you're coming out forwards, you'll be able to see more.

If I'm reversing in the dark, and haven't got enough light, I stick the foglight or the hazards on.

Its a good idea, however with the current garage layout we have to drive nose in to the garage (car won't fit in there when reversed in), and there isn't enough room to turn at the top of the driveway.

wouldn't running an armoured cable down the drive and having a mains sensor light be better?

Is there an LED version of the reverse light?

That might shed more light on the issue? :biggrin:

Yes it would be better, but would require a electrician to install to be legal (in this country) so expensive. Maybe a cheap solar setup might suffice though.

those regulations cover changing or adding a circuit.

you could convert the armoured (swa) to flex and plug unto an existing socket. I would recommend an inspection to ensure safety of course but doing this is no different to running an extension lead.
