Bank Holiday weekend away with a wife, 3 kids, 3 bikes and enough luggage to sink a ship

and the Skoda Superb coped admirably.  What a brilliant family car it is; the vast space in the back really comes into it's own when you've 3 growing kids strapped in for hours on end.  Only got a few "are we there yets" and everyone was very comfortable.

The boot space really is phenomenal... saw the pile of cases and bags at the front door for loading up and thought "no way is this going in here" but it did, with ease.  Including a buggy.

Got the new Thule roof rack and cycle carriers as discussed on here a couple of weeks ago and they look great on the car.  Really easy to use too, 3 bikes on and off no problem.

With all that on board I got 42mpg on average, with the cruise set at 70mph on the motorway.  The bikes on the roof do bring this down with the wind drag but i think that's still pretty good.

Great family car, I can't think of any better for the money.

Yep, similar experience this weekend.

Although, I'm sure an Audi A6 or a 5 Series would have softer plastics.  Because, that's the most important thing about a car these days....

Agreed.  My wife and I went camping a couple of weeks ago, and no matter how long we are away for (3 days that time) she packs like were moving house!  We had the car FULL (seats down and all) with bikes in (hers folds up into the boot) and mine on the tow bar rack.

I was sure we'd end up leaving stuff as we didnt have space!  Talking about getting a roof box now in case we have the mother in law come with us next time!

Driving to France for 2 weeks holiday in July and I think I'm going to buy a roof box too.  The wife will be delighted- more stuff to take!
