Window regulator

Featured Replies

My partners 2004 fabia vrs drivers side window made a cracking noise and refused to go back up. We've managed to get it up and jam some card to stop it from dropping.

I'm assuming its the window regulator that needs replacing?

I've got one reserved at euro carparts just thou flight is ask before spending cash

The cracking noise was probably the pathetic plastic clips used to hold the end of the wires in place, easy enough job to do.

Plenty of " How to's " on here. You might need to borrow or buy a lazy tong rivet gun if you find that the carrier is riveted on. And by the way, you'll need to buy new rivets from TPS or your Skoda dealer. The little green clips that you will most certainly smash on the back of your door card are cheap as chips off E-bay.

Why do you need to buy rivets from TPS? I used some I had in the garage.

As in, they are a much bigger rivet than standard. if you've found a supplier that can supply the required rivets then do share the part numbers, dimensions etc as the dealer ones don't come cheap.

Both correct for your Fabia. On some models window mechanism is bolted not riveted.

Mines riveted.  I take it the speaker is riveted on to the plate aswell

Yes the speaker is riveted and uses the same rivets as the window regulator.

Dunno where they were from, my Dad just had them in the garage and so I pinched a few and they worked fine.

Proof just a normal rivets works on the window carrier
