coming back to skoda

Featured Replies

hi .. well it looks like im coming back to skoda from having a couple of C max's the Mrs has decided she wants to go back to a skoda est .. so please help i have found a 1.6d se sport ( looks like a good spec even though cant find in any brochures ... at a descent price .. so couple of questions - a is the sport a proper spec .... and b is this engine any good .. some weeks we do potter around mileage ... and then some weeks bombing up and down motorways going to footy matches ....

SE Sport is proper spec - arguably a run-out model before the face lifted version appeared, added around £3000 worth of kit to the standard SE, the most notable being Xenon headlights and sports seats.

Model only available with 1.6tdi or 1.4tsi.   Is 1.6tdi any good? Just depends on what you're after from an engine. 1.6tdi is powerful enough for most folk, it's the most fuel efficient but the least refined.

I believe the cars were launched in 2nd half of 2016 which means you'll have at least 1yr manufacturers warranty left.

I have an SE 1.6TDi and I do similar journeys to you, pottering around and fairly frequent descent length journeys, about 12000 miles a year. I find the car most refined at around 80mph or just under 2500rpm in 5th. Over 15500 miles since February 2017, it has averaged about 59mpg overall according to the trip computer,

My Octavia is well made and rattle free.

I have had my SE Sport for the last 18 months, yes it was a run out model. Mine is well built, I am now on at 26500 miles, my daily commute is a 60 mile round trip and my long term mpg is 62mpg. My 1.6 tdi is reasonably refined. The longest run I have completed is to the other side of Hamburg and back and I have to say it did well. It's not the quickest car in the world but it ticks along on the day to day journeys.

Another SE Sport owner here, also had it for 18 months, but a 1.4 tsi hatch so not quite the same thing. Right enough it was a run out special with some nice extras over the regular SE.

Not everyone likes the seats, I find them to be more comfortable than SE or SE L seats.

I'm not a fan of steering wheels that are anything other than round but that's just me, haven't found flat bottom wheel as annoying as I thought I might.

I find Halogens on the Mk3 to be significantly worse than Mk2 Halogens so the Bi-xenons are worthwhile.

17" Wheels also split opinions but you'll know whether you consider them to be a bonus or not.
