Smf conversion

Featured Replies

Hey everyone my cars going in to have it’s rattly dmf replaced with a smf. Was wondering if there were any benefits in relation to how it drives etc after the conversion.

Assuming your car is the 2.0, I'd stick with a DMF.

From what others have posted in various forums, the 2.0 doesn't seem to get on well with a SMF and causes vibration and potential damage to the gearbox too.

Yeah it’s the 2.0 tdi pd 140 bkd engine

+1 for what Langers advises.

I read about this when I was worried my dmf was failing in the same engine several years ago (thankfully a change of gearbox oil was all I needed) and found quite a few references to it being unadvisable. I can't imagine much has changed making it less of an issue. It apparently only really works for the 1.9.
