Just a quick one ... would removing the internals of a dpf change the engine tone or sound ?

The DPF is after the turbo which muffles a lot of sound anyway so I would say there would be very little measurable difference if any at all.

I am a numpty

I've heard that there is a difference in sound.

At least guys removing DPFs say that they add some device to make it sound like with that DPF thing.

A pal of mine had a DPF internals removed a few years back, on tickover the sound was different, almost a faint whistle to it.
