Ran out of ideas! Driver’s side tyre wear inner edge.

Featured Replies

Tried everything that I can think of but no cigar.

over the last couple of years I have taken the car to be laser aligned on a hunter machine twice by different garages and numerous times had the tracking checked. Every time the results came back within tollerance apart from the camber being a tiny bit out!

I have since loosened the top mount and console, moved the top strut outward and bottom inward to compensate for the camber but still the same. The car is lowered on coilovers but it’s not slammed and wheel camber looks ok.

I put the coilovers on a couple of years ago along with new top mounts, bushes, bottom arms etc. Tyre pressures are all correct and have tried different wheels but still the same. Car is on std wheels.

Ive’ had the car 5 years and it’s been a brilliant daily to rack up the miles but this pulling to the left and tyre wear on drivers side is spoiling it.

any suggestions appreaciated,

thanks.

Mine isn't lowered and if I didn't swap wheels front to back I get about 9k miles out of tyres before it is down to the cords on the inside edge on both front tyres. My camber is excessive on the front at 1.5 degrees but every single bush on the front is new.

So I would love to find the answer too.

Ball joint possibly. Mine was wearing a bit on one side but both sides were wearing like that on the inside. Turned out it was a ball joint failing that was throwing out the alignment. This went on for about 12 months for me before it became obvious enough to nail it. I had mine aligned by a garage and they failed to spot it as well.

I'll second that... Same idea here, had the car over a year with the same kind of issues.. In and out garages.. Several hunter alignments, no one could spot anything so I gave up... When it was on the ramp the other day I spotted ball joint had dropped a couple of mm.... Not sorted it yet but when I do I'll let you know if that sorts it... Definitely seams likely

do you have the solid  (cupra) rear bushes ?

It's because the the car's been lowered. it increases negative camber quite noticeably due to the change in front strut geometry.

Yes, got cupra console bushes and the rest is uprated also.

I do agree that lowering doesnt help but my previous fabia was also lowered and that never pulled to the left or wear the tyres out on the inner edge.

Cheers guys, will have a good look at the ball joints, track rod ends etc when I get a chance and go from there.
