Fuel Gauge Problem

Featured Replies

Hi. I hadn't used my Roomster for a while and when I came to start it the battery was flat. I put it on charge for about 10 minutes without disconnecting the battery and that was sufficient to get it started. I know that the tank was close to full at that point. However after driving something like 130 miles the LCD fuel gauge still showed full. It normally dropped a bar after around 80 miles. I then looked at the miles remaining figure and it showed 320 miles but after driving some more this figure went up 5 miles at a time and when I last looked it sowed 360 miles. Could the flat battery/charging have caused some problem?

@morsoft22 - The flat battery will probably have caused the trip computer to forget the history values. It should sort itself out the next time you put some fuel in.

Hi Morsoft22 and welcome to the forum.

Don't worry about the apparent increase in range as this is normal.  Your Roomster uses average fuel consumption figures to calculate the range.  If you start to drive more economically (e.g. a long run as opposed to stop-start town driving) your Roomster will re-calculate the range according to the new average mpg.  As Ken has suggested, it should sort itself out.

Hi Ken & Robjon. Many thanks for your swift replies. I have filled up the tank again and will see how it goes. Thanks again.

Yes to amuse myself on motorway journeys ,I play a game driving steadily at the just below the limit,I like to watch the fuel range increase ,and sometimes when I return home if Im lucky the range is almost at the same point as when I started.

@bobspark - I've done similar, to the extent that after ~25 miles I've got the range to be 30 miles more than when I set out!
