Aircon fault

Hi all,

The Octavia is beginning to look like a money pit now.

The latest faults the aircon. Hopefully somebody can assist.

I had it regassed at kwik fit but they couldn't complete it as the compressor wouldn't kick in. 

The suspected it to be the compressor at fault.

I only changed the compressor a couple offers ago, so I'm struggling to that as the culprit.

I've scanned the car with my obdeleven and it threw up 

00229 refrigerant pressure lower limit exceeded.

Now to me that screams low refrigerant and a top-up. 

If there was a leak stopping the pressure from building their machine would detect it and refuse to fill, no?

Would the compressor throw a code if it had failed?
