My Diesel sounds rough

Featured Replies

Over the past few days my Diesel Scout has started to sound a bit rough.  At first I thought it was an exhaust blow near the front but now I'm thinking it sounds more like a whirring noise.  It's most noticeable on starting and then goes away typically  after about 20 seconds, however after driving and finishing a journey sometimes the noise returns, sometimes it doesn't.

Its sounds more noticeable on the drivers side.

Having not had a Diesel with an exhaust issue before, would it be noticeable if it's blowing like on a petrol or not?

Thanks

So i've worked out its not an Exhaust blow, but there is a whirring noise thats apparent.  Not sure if its maybe the aircon compressor / belt.  Ive got it booked in at an VAG Specialist Wed/Thu next week (ive used a few times int he past) so will see what they say.

Out of curiosity whats the Cambelt schedule on a 2.0TDI Scout (65 plate)

Must admit, when I saw the thread title, I did think, “....and are you really surprised?”

Joking aside, sounds like a trip to your dealer is the way forward! Good luck.

(Can’t help with the belt schedules, sorry)

Update - on the way to the garage last night the aircon stopped working.  Its been looked at today and been told its the Aircon compressor.

Should have the car back tomorrow all fixed hopefully.
