'99 Felicia 1.3MPi Temp gauge/rough idle

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I'm new here so please be gentle with me! I've just bought a '99 Felicia 1.3MPi. On the 85 mile drive home, it was idling rather roughly and on one occasion was very hesitant pulling away from a set of traffic lights. Additionally, the temperature gauge barely moved off zero until I hit some traffic. It then rose quite rapidly, so I turned the blowers on to hot which kept the temp down nicely. As soon as I was on the move again, the needle dropped back down to barely above zero. I've checked the header tank and the oil filler for signs of head gasket failure, but both are a-ok. Any ideas please? Thanks in advance.

Usually we burn newcomers at the stake or we insert painful probes in various areas. We'll make an exception with you :D

Just kidding. Welcome to the forum. It so happens the issue you've described we're discussing in this topic. Read along.

From the observation it seems that radiator fan is not coming on.please apply hand brake/parking brake start the car keep the bonnet open ,let the car idle wait for 10 -20 minutes .see the radiator fan coming on.
