Hi there. Can I have some advice please. I’ve recently taken delivery of a brand new Fabia 1.0 TSI. I’ve done less than 1000 miles in it so far, but I’ve noticed a slight growl when I apply the brakes. It’s a kind of growly, grindy sound; not loud at all, but I can feel it too through my foot as I apply the brakes. The car brakes very effectively. Just wondering whether this is normal for a brand new car and is part of the bedding in process, or whether I need to take it to a Skoda garage and have the brakes checked out or adjusted. Many thanks.

I'd have it checked out under warranty. I never had that with mine and it doesn't really sound normal.

Better safe than sorry.

As above, get it checked out. It could be normal as your brakes still may be bedding in. For some drivers it can take way longer than 1000 miles because of the type of driving they do and the sort of driver they are.

Forgot to mention, but during the bedding in process it's a good idea not to feather the brakes too much when coming to a stop. Don't apply them heavily as that's not good either, as per the book instructions. Feathering the brakes causes the brakes to bed in over too long a time and this glazes the brake pads and they will make a growling noise when in use. This often wears off with more miles, but worst case senario is the pads will need de-glazing to quieten them down and restore proper braking capacity.
