I’d like some advice re my vRS estate’s current ICE/media setup. As far as I’m aware it’s the standard setup but seems to be ident to the one hopefully in the attached photo. I find it quite basic on the sound front and would like a bit more ‘oomph’  but have no idea what my options are when it comes to an upgrade. Any assistance would be greatly received.

There are a couple of makes (Kenwood, Alpine, etc) who do replacements head units, but they are £1k or more by the time they are fitted. I really want the Alpine one, but just can't justify the money, and keep reading its a touch slow.

 

Otherwise, there's a wiring kit you can get, that connects to the back of the CD player in the glove box, and will give you the speaker outputs from the stereo, and from there you can amp them up. Seems like a reasonable option, and you could get anything from a cheap £200 amp, up to stupid amounts of money. I've seen a couple of nice setups in here.

A wiring kit??  ooh tell me more, as I've not read anything about that when i have done searches for upgrading my sounds.
