Diesel Fuel Filter Change?

Featured Replies

I’m about due a fuel filter change on my VRs Diesel but before I do it is there anything I need to know?

Is it just a straightforward swap and self-priming?

I just pulled the old one out, shoved the new one in and Bob's ya Uncle

You can usually get away with just refilling the filter housing with as much diesel as you can but you are meant to prime the system first by running the lift pump and the aux. fuel pump with VCDS before starting.

I haven't heard of anybody damaging anything but if you do manage to get the system air-locked and you run the HPFP dry it can do some serious damage

Might be worth using up as much of the diesel what's left in the tank before you swap the filter.

Just in case there's any rubbish in the bottom of tank, as it would be worth catching it in the filter you're changing, rather than it potentially getting into the new one.

Thanks for the info guys.

Out of interest, where should I be looking in VCDS to run the lift pump and aux. fuel pump?
