Let me introduce myself

Featured Replies

Afternoon all.  Figured it was about time to introduce myself, having been a member on here for 5 months.

I bought my Octavia vRS in January and since then have thoroughly enjoyed having it.  I've clocked up over 8,000 miles in that time, taking it all the way up to the Lake District and all the way down to Lands End.

I have also come across some, let's say, foibles.  I occasionally get the "leave vehicle only when selector in position P" error.  I also every now and again get an EPC light and a start/stop error.  None of these hasn't been fixed by me just turning the engine off and back on again.   Had a nosey around on the forum and these seem to be common errors.  I'll get them looked at when the car goes in for it's next major service.

On that note, I bought the car with reasonably high milage for a 14 plate on 92k. But it has only had 1 owner from new and has a Full Skoda Service History so i'm happy it's been looked after.  All the receipts in the file show the previous owners name, but on the V5C, the owner is listed as Volkswagen Financial Services.  Does anybody know why this might be?  I guess it was a lease car?

Anyway, less chit chat, more pictures...

Took the car to the Peak District for some climbing

Then took the car to the Lake District for more climbing

Then we got some snow and the car got filthy

Commuting 100 miles a week, it was impossible to keep the car clean

I then got a dash cam fitted after a near miss on the M4

Whilst down in Cornwall, I managed to squeeze two giant foam surf boards in the car

Even used the car to tow my Campervan

And there we go, this is how the car sits now, having just gone over 100,500 miles

Awesome colour, its what I would have chosen if my other half didnt say no!

As you said the errors you've seen should be corrected by a new shifter & software update.

I guess you have 1 year warrenty or something like that from the garage you bought it from?

I'd get them to take a look or at least ring them to inform them of these errors.

You dont want to get to the service & they tell you the warrenty is over & you have to pay.

As far as VW Financial Services is concern I guess it means it was a lease car or perhaps management/dealership/sales car.

Welcome!

You will need a new DSG gear selector (the gear lever has the fault, gearbox should be fine).

I also have a ‘14 plate vRS. Love the Rallye Green. Top work old boy!

You’ll find lots of Octavias were owned by VWFS. If you have a car on PCP or lease you are only the registered keeper, the finance company is the owner.

Cracking colour, welcome! As pointed out, the error with leaving the gear selector in P will likely need a new DSG selector lever. Costs a few quid so if you have any warranty then best to get it done under that.

Welcome and like the colour.  Should be easier to find in car parks!
