Dash Clock Display Swap mph too km and ECU Swap

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have a 2008 Skoda Ocavia 2.0TDi BMM engine and have bought the clocks/display and ECU(with key) from a VRS TDi also BMM engine

Everything looks ok , but the dashes are quite different . I have opened up the VRS one to see if i can pop my Km one in to rectify the issue.

Now the question is Is the Immobilizer chip in the display in the small circuit board at the back of the display , and secondly , Does this mean i can drop my existing Fascia into this cradle and expect the dash to work as it did before when i swap out the ECU and key fob chip.

Looking at VCDS if the above cannibalism works ok i can get the digital part too read in Km and litres per 100km etc, I just dont want to do the above mod then find i blow it up :(

Photos attached

Many Thanks

Long story short, my car cuts out very randomly, and the fuel mileage isnt that great when it used to be awesome.
The ECU swap should eliminate a possible faulty ECU and up the power a lil bit even though i have the smaller 140bhp turbo fitted.

Its just dawned on me that i think they sold me a BMN set up and not a BMM ECU set up even though they say it is off a BMM and will fit any BMM .

Engine Code - BMM

The ecu was taken off a running 2007 Octavia 2.0 tdi diesel with a BMM engine code

The ecu will fit in the model from 2004-2010 or with the same part number or engine code"

Might just curl up and cry for a bit ugh , can anyone double check, my ECU is a different size
