windows open, lock by remote

my windows open, lock by remote control is not working

any advice?

Did they ever work? I have not got it working and never had. I asked a techie once and they said it may be programmable but might not be, depending on model/build spec. I think you will need VCDS or similar and might end up paying just to check! If they worked before but now don't, it might be broken wires in the door bellows, faulty convenience module or another issue all together. (Fuse, etc). Also, do they go up/down if you use the key in the lock, turning one way and holding either locked or unlocked for a few more seconds? This should also raise/lower the windows. Try disconnecting the battery for ten mins then popping it back on and resetting the window switches. Do this by manually running them down with the switch, until they reach the bottom, holding them on a few more seconds. Then run them back to the top, again, holding the switch on for a few seconds when fully up. They should then have set the switches auto function. Try again if it doesn't work. Now re-try the remote.

you have to hold the key button, eg open or close, for 3 seconds and have global open/close enabled.

How would you enable that? VCDS? Not sure what you meant by global open/close.

I also was asking if the OP had ever had it working, as it may have packed in. Mine has never worked/been enabled, from the day I collected the car from the dealership.

I have to keep my unlock button pressed to open, or lock pressed to close...

The moment I let go of the button the windows stop moving!

It's great in this weather, I can open my windows from across the car park whilst I walk toward the car (hold the remote to your chin to extend the range... It works!! yes!! It really works!!)

My vRS 2011 did this, but my mates 2012 Monte Carlo didn't !

If you had that function, I mean to open and close the windows remotely, and suddenly that function went away then the most common reason is the fact that the safety feature of some of the windows triggered in order to prevent or protect something, such as fingers on top of the window.

In order to fix this you first you have to find the window that was triggered. So, insert the key into ignition position without starting the engine. Then try to wind down (or up) all the windows of the car one at the time, using the auto function (the one that you press one time the switch and the windows moves all the way down or up without having to keep pressed the switch). If one of your windows does move alone but needs to keep the switch pressed, is the one that cancelled the remote function.

After finding the window, hold the switch to go all the way down (or up) and keep it hold for a couple of seconds after reaching the end of its way. Normally you should hear a slight click.

Now the automatic function of that window should be restored and so the convenient function with the remote control.

?

My wife's car has the similar issue. Her front windows won't open on the remote, but also won't open with the key held open in the door - but works for closing, both key and remote. Any ideas?? Not plugged VCDS in as yet, but seems odd that it works one way and not the other...

I think that’s a programming issue, pretty certain that global closing and global opening are two separate options.

Glad to help you,  but I think you should thank the Briskoda community as I had that issue and I found that solution by another member's topic in another model's sub forum.
