@davesally23 - Have you continuity checked the wiring to the reported wheel? Is the rotor disc on that corner clean and in decent order?

Has the car had new front wheel bearings fitted recently?

The ABS sensor 'looks' at a set of magnetic strips integrated into the inner face of the wheel bearing. It's not uncommon for people to fit the wheel bearing without the correct tooling, damaging or mis-positioning this so that the sensor doesn't work.

Checking wiring continuity as said above, and connectors for corrosion/ingress well worth doing.

If you can scan the car with VCDS, compare the controller part number and coding with this, from our 2005 1.2/AZQ:

"Address 03: ABS Brakes       Labels: 6Q0-907-37x-ABS.LBL
   Controller: 6Q0 907 379 AA
   Component: ABS 8.0 front   H03 0001
   Coding: 0000005"

Not sure whether yours should be exactly the same, may depend on which front disc size is fitted etc., as there are variants.
