Door warning light

Featured Replies

I am a little stuck.

My driver door door warning light dropped out of its recess in the trim and I did not notice and closed the door. I guess it might have come loose over a bump.... I heard a crack but it was already in 3 pieces. The light was still working but the casing needed some TLC.

So I glued it back together, connected the cable and fitted it back in the door, but now there is no light. I rechecked the bulb and took the door warning light from the back door out. This was working when I opened the door and I swapped the 2. Now neither is working...... According to the manual there is no fuse for these lights.

Has anyone come accross this kind of problem?

It might be the CANBUS network having a problem due to a broken wire on the front door or having two bulbs out, but not sure what to look for sorry.

Logic would dictate that the system has turned them off having sensed a short, do you have led or standard bulbs in them?

(some led types can insert to far and create a dead short)

I do not think there is a broken wire involved as both lamps worked either before taking them out to change / test and even after the light had cracked the bulb in the front door was still working.

The bulb is a standard W5W.

I will get the VCDS out and check for faults but did not think that this would be a case for VCDS.

The Can-bus was probably the right idea. I had the car in the garage with the ignition off since I broke the light. After I switched the ignition on and off again both lights came back to life.
