New Citigo vs older

Featured Replies

I'm considering swapping my 2012 Citigo for a new one.. other than the spec changes (string in boot, new infotainment etc) have they made any noticeable improvements to refinement over the years?

Just wondering whether anyone who has owned or driven both old and newer has noticed whether they've improved the sound insulation for engine or road noise and stuff like that.

Thanks :)

I had a 2015 SE Citigo and now have a 2016 Monte Citigo and even though it’s a year difference, inside it feels refined, to me it feels slightly more up-market (could just be the difference between SE & Monte though). I felt the handling was better on the Monte too.

obviously as stated the infotainment has changed, and it’s a lot easier to navigate.

I’d recommend the MFD option, as this allows you to see more information about the car, including for example: Speed, Engine temp, Oil temp, warnings and much more.

Thanks.. guess the handling should be better on the Monte with the supension drop and therefore lower centre of gravity, but on the flipside do you notice the ride being worse than on the SE?

My wife has just traded her 2016 Citigo S EL for the facelift 2018 S EL.

I've driven them both and I definitely think the 2018 is somewhat quieter and more refined. I would imagine it's more like a VW Up! although  I've never driven one.

Along with the drl's,nicer bonnet, clearer instrument display and better radio it's improved the car quite a bit in my opinion.

I’d say the ride quality is the same. Couldn’t notice a distance.

Our previous Citigo must have been inferior to others then.

The suspension setup has remained pretty much unchanged since launch. Differences in ride refinement are more likely due to wear & tear of the older car rather than manufacture-tweaking. Tyres and tyre pressures can also make a noticeable difference to comfort and refinement.

Citigo's/Up's/Mii's have apparently received minor gearbox revisions to increase refinement and reliability. Many early cars suffered 1st/reverse gear selection issues and excessive drivetrain-whine after a few thousand miles. Newer boxes should feel slicker and remain quieter for longer.

I have to say that we have had our 2015 Citigo SE 60 ASG since April.  With 47k miles on the clock, it still feels very refined and has not knocks or rattles.
