Mods to front grille

Featured Replies

I have dechromed the front grille on my fabia elegance. I have had the top part colour coded and the lower trim I have temporarily 'wrapped' using black electrical tape.

I wanted to see if I would like it before committing ,as I read on here that this lower trim piece I normally broken upon removal.

I am hoping to buy the satin/Matt black trim piece found on the fabia 'S' trim level. Don't want the gloss black Monte Carlo style.

What do you think, is it an improvement over the chrome look?

Personally, I liked the chrome. Especially as it (Used to be) Higher specification trim. That said, I think I would have had the chrome upper AND lower painted to colour code, if I started that route.

I am a hater of those black insert front bumpers, where the number plate is, so many cars come with and would almost certainly have the centre section colour coded if I purchased a vehicle that came that way!

I like.

why not just mask and then spray with Plasti-dip the bottom chrome?

...Or a wrap, which can then be converted back should you or any prospective new owner desire!

Or, might be just as economic to buy another grille, that does not actually have the chrome. Lower spec usually doesn't, unless it became standard.

Plain black aftermarket (Non genuine) under £25 on the 'bay! Straight swap, yours is a  spare part to sell/pass on/re-fit. Why even F.C.U.K. about?

Plasti-dip peels off just like with a wrap. £11.35 or so... a can in Satin Black.

In silver at least, it looks good.
