Vrs bizarre fault.

Featured Replies

Vrs 170 tdi 2007. Hope I'm not rehashing an old thread but I've not been able to find anything like this problem. Got a faulty coolant temp sensor, showed max temp, fans on, but not over heating and circulation was good. Replaced the sensor, very straight forward. Took car for 10 mile test run. No problem. Then put into reverse and immediately the fault returned. Then shortly after temp display drops to min. Running temp should be approx 88 but constant at min. Put old sensor back in and temp constantly at max, fans on etc. .....confused.com. so changed the stat on off chance and no difference. Decided the replacement sensor was dud so replaced with another. Tested good. Stat opens at approx 88 ran for half an hour no problem. Put it in reverse ....boom max temp reading. This remains constant. No faults reading, no fuses blown, no clear evidence of cable damage, 5v at sensor plug. Please help! I'm looking it
