Octavia Estate 2018

Featured Replies

Hi

This is a newbie post.

Annual mileage 10,000km

Looking at Octavia Estate SE and SE tech which I think in Ireland are called Ambition and Style ?

What engine would be best for private buyer considering the mileage above?

And is the Style model worth the additional expense over the Ambition?

Exterior chrome around windows etc..

Thanks in advance

Welcome.

Petrol all the way; 1.5 TSI ideally, but being from Dublin originally myself, I know how expensive road tax is over there - unless you really want the extra power the 1.0TSI is probably all you need.

@181ce has a 1.0 TSI and is based in SW Ireland - he can probably give you a steer?

Thanks a mill that’s very helpful

Keen to see what deals will be on offer here based on the new WLTP tests

1.0 is all you need realistically, think 1.6tdi with far better throttle response infintley better refinement and identical power.

Everyday tooling about economy is 48mpg ridiculous is possible on a run with enough care,

The only clue to engine size is forget about second gear below 18kph

To qualify the above I've come from a long line of high power diesels and can happily live with it matter of fact I'm not gonna buy another diesel, radical departure easily explained by the need to insure a 17 year old zero desire to drive a POS ancient Yaris or similar and zero%PCP.

As regards style v ambition tough call ,the extra Columbus features SIm  slot etc not really seeing as how nobody does a data only SIM you'll just use your phone as a hot spot,Skoda connect etc really only gimicks BUT dual zone climate nicer seat material centre armrest camera etc are worthwhile esp dual zone c/c.

Tougher call again sportline pack, led lights yes, keyless entry pushbutton start no never got on with it any time I had it.

Bigger wheels no,privacy rear glass meh, spoilers and black trim meh

1200 euro extra when I bought mine.

Mine is on track to do 33000 I'm a year btw.

As regards longevity of the little itty bitty lawnmower engine look up VW UP on autoscout see how many there are with starship mileage.

3 cylinders make a nice noise when you trash it and the inherent imbalance is almost never detectable ,(stone cold ticking over)

181ce thank you so much.

That’s a huge help.

We’re definitely steering (pardon pun) to the 1.0TSI although I don’t think they are offering 0%APR on the 1.0 engine anymore ??

The Ambition v Style is a tricky one.

The Ambition is really well specced but the chrome on the outside surrounding the windows is pulling us towards the Style.

Planning on getting the detachable tow bar so it’s really down to the Ambition 1.0 TSI in quartz grey with tow bar or Style 1.0 TSI in quartz grey with tow bar (extra 1500euro approx)

have attached the 2 pics below

Would be delighted with either of them as I reckon we’ll have a long wait

Factory towbar a no Brainer at 500euro fully fitted and completely integrated I don't have one personally since I have an ancient range rover for that kinda stuff.I think towing weight is mabey 700ish kg unbraked personally I wouldn't do much more with any car.

If your getting the style and towbar for 1500 extra I think you've awnsered your own question .

Try all the dealers there's a fair varience between them re trade ind if you've got one I tried 11 and went all the way to Clare from cork !!!!!

Waiting time........mine was about 21 weeks with nothing extra speced.

I recon you'll get the 0% if you push hard enough, perhaps the "order date "might slip back on paper or summary.

Thanks

That’s been a great help.

I was in a few Skoda dealers last week.

Will have a good look around for the best deal on a 1.0 TSI Style with the addition of the  tow bar

Best of luck with it.

We got the SE Tech over SE as there wasn't a price difference on NHS finance, and in my opinion the Chrome looks nicer than the standard black. The in car SatNav I havent used as its not up to par with google Maps and the 1.0TSI  is a fantastic engine for its size.
