Octavia Mk2 vRS rear springs

Featured Replies

When I was coming back a few weeks ago from a weekend away (towing car trailer) we went over a bit in the road and heard a loud crack.

After getting home and unloading the car and trailer the vRS was sitting quite low. Upon inspection yesterday one of my rear springs has split in half and is sounding as it it's going to litter the countryside somewhere.

Are there any particular rear springs I should get to replace them? I'm going to change the other side as well.

Thanks.

I have a full set of VRS springs sat in my garage including top mounts all in vgc at  if you're interested

I recently replaced springs and shocks all round for Bilsteins.  Here’s the Skoda prices compared with the best price I could find for the Bilsteins:

OEM rear spring - 1K0511115BR

£69.07 list - £57.19 discounted + VAT

Bilstein B3 Rear Spring - 36-199648

Demon Tweeks - £24.66 + VAT

Depending on your mileage, your rear shocks could be worth replacing as well, mine were absolutely shot at 70 odd thousand miles, front and rear.

I am running Bilstein B3 springs allround and they are a big improvement to the ride.

Where were you getting the discounted prices for the OEM parts? I've had a look around and they seem to be the list price.

Mileage wise I'm sitting early-mid 80k so might have to consider these as well. Bit of a bugger but hey ho.

I’ve got a decent relationship with the parts guy at my local dealership, he gives me the maximum discount/trade price.  I’m really enjoying the Bilstein springs and shocks though, no change in ride height and harshness but a much more composed ride and sharper handling.  That said my OEM Sachs shocks were in a dreadful state when they came off, almost no rebound whatsoever.

Is that a VRS estate or hatch please?
