TDI 184 DSG Oil Change - Service Schedule

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

Is the DSG oil change listed as a Skoda service item that should be done at 40,000?

I have the service record from my recently purchased 2015 Octavia VRS TDi DSG and it has a cross in the NO box of the DSG oil and filter. The car is now on 48k, the service was done last at 40k. The main dealer salesman told me the boxes are sealed for life but the forums are telling me otherwise.

Regards,

Lee

If it's the same 6 speed DQ250 wet clutch as 2.0 TDI 150bh engines, then yes: service every 40k miles.

The usual salesman fobbing people off by not knowing anything. This is why I hate speaking to slimy main dealers.

Thanks for the responses.. yes, unfortunately having zero experiences in these cars I wasn't sure.

I'll get it booked in now for a DSG oil and filter for peace of mind.

Cheers,

Get the Main Dealer salesman to put that in writing with his name and job description and technical qualifications and his employers can arrange training for him.

DQ200 7 Speed twin dry clutch DSG are sealed and need no oil change, as long as no world wide recall or service campaign and the oil does need changed.

Tell him that.

I will, trust me..

I already had to call them today for not replacing the key fob batteries which were giving me a warning to be replaced and they weren't.

PS

Should be a lesson to many.

Full Main Dealer Service History worth very little when Main Dealerships do not do services to the Manufacturers Service Guidelines or Schedules and when customers / owners ask full time employees they know jack sh-!t.

This can void a warranty as has happened with members here with DSG's and Haldex.

Re Haldex,

Due a Oil change at 30,000 miles, or 'some say' 3 years.

(As is Brake Fluid at 3 years then each 2 years.)

Too true..

The local indy VW specialist that looks after my mk6 Golf does a DSG oil and filter service for £219.. Skoda say DSG oil change for £179. How much is the filter? I'm inclined to go elsewhere now.

Is there a record in the car memory which would know if the service has been done?

EDIT: confirmed now that it was missed.

£219 at my local indy or £214 at my local main Skoda dealer.

Why is it £214? It should be £179 for DSG change. Was on mine and is listed by Skoda as £179.

Not entirely sure..

Skoda list it as £179 for the oil change but when I try to book it, my only option is £214 oil AND FILTER change.

My local indy is £219 for oil and filter change.

Too late to telephone now but I will get to the bottom of it tomorrow.

Cheers,

They make it up as they go along.  Offers for cars 3-10 year old, participating or pi55 taking dealers.

Offer for cars on Fixed Servicing only and all that jazz.  Pre 2018 cars because they will be getting VW508/509 oil,  well maybe, maybe not!

Got mine done 2 weeks ago from vw in Glasgow £184. Skoda wanted £179 but further away, vw 5 mins from house

Hum, there's a VW 5min away from me also. The garage doesn't say they service Skoda and they are not part of Skoda retailer network.

Did you just drive up and asked them to do your Skoda? No one batted an eye let about the badge?

Often VW, AUDI, SEAT Service Desk staff will say they will not or can not service a Skoda.

Just ask is this their Dealership or Group Policy to not do them, and can you speak to the Dealer Principal about this.

Ask what the issue is since they have the equipment, parts and trained and qualified staff and is it some cartel being run where they are restricting Skoda owners to go to their Skoda Dealership.

Usually they will book your car in, if not name and shame them.

Update:

Phoned my two local Skoda dealers today. The price is £179 and to ignore the online quotation system.

I have to drop the car off to them the night before and collect the following day because, I quote..

"the oil is left to drain overnight and must be filled and checked whilst temperature is below 30 degrees celcius"

I go in for parts, was picking up oil( low ash ) long life III 20L £72 no vat. Just booked it in at service desk, had it done twice in there, I got car at 38,000 so got it done straight away then done again at 69,000 just to be safe. Never asked me anything she just booked it in

Great stuff, any dealer trying to charge more is just being greedy. A 2015 should be 3 years old or thereabouts for which the fixed prices published by Skoda should apply, unless your dealer doesn't participate.

Consult the Skoda fixed priced guidelines for any future dealer work:

All done, total price £175.00..

Knocked off £4 due to a different price listed on their website, not bad.

Happy all sorted now.

Thanks for all replies
