Removing A-pillar guide?

Featured Replies

Hey kind people.

Blew a tweeter in my 2011 Monte carlo, and found another, but I'm a complete ****** when it comes to mechanics.  This does seem like a simple job, if I can only get the pillar trim off!  Anyone help?  Any guides, or videos?  Thanks

I believe it is held in situ by a set of clips some of which may be metal, others plastic. They tend to pop off when prised gently with plastic prise tools or if careful, a flat headed screwdriver. You may have to gently remove parts of the rubber from around the door frame too. I don't know without going out and looking. Usually, these sorts of things are no too tough a job but care is needed to avoid damaging the panel or the clips. Most clips are obtainable either from an automotive spares shop or if too specific, from a main dealer, if they should break.

The tweeter its-self could be clipped in, riveted or screwed in. If you are replacing it with like for like, the wiring should be straight forward but if replacing with a different type, size etc may be different, as may wiring connecters. If you have only blown it and don't want an upgrade, fit a standard one to be easy.

I've pulled the left side off a few times. It does indeed just pull off. You can pull the rubber door seal away to help access to getting a grip under the trim.

I've never had to remove the right hand one but I'm sure it would be the same.

Once you get your fingers behind the plastic just pull it directly away from the body. The clips can be tight but it does just pop off.
