Locking Wheel Nut Removal

Featured Replies

Hi,

So i have gone to change my brakes this morning when my locking wheel nut key snapped in the bolt. I'm guessing they had been over tightened. Does anyone know how to take these off?

Thanks

James

Try a hammer and small chisel on the edge of what is left.

Hi thanks for your reply.

Ill pop out and see if i can chisel it off after lunch.

Just searching for ways to remove it while i eat my lunch :D

The aim is to try and turn the nut, not smash it to pieces!

If you are seartvhing for ways to remove it while eating your lunch, then drop your car at soe workshop and go for a meal nearby:D

But if you insist doing it yourself, then a pic would be useful to see how exactly it broke and how much is outside.

I suppose you don't have a welding machine in your Superbs trunk?

When mine disappeared a while ago me and the servicedesk girl at Skoda Stockholm spent ten minutes sitting on the sidewalk, testing different keys and talking of a little bit of everything. A pleasant experience and in my opinion the least risky way of doing it.

I dont think a new key would help as the old one is shredded inside the locking wheel nut.

Just tried chiseling it but i have given up as it doesn't seem to be moving and i accidentally scuffed the rim with the chisel.

In my search i found this locking wheel nut removal website, spoke to the chap who said he could remove it without any further damage. Best thing is he's only 2 miles away from me!

I'm going to head down there now and see if he can take it off. I'll report back here once i get back!
