Start Stop memory device to remember the last over-ride switch setting.

Featured Replies

I'm not keen on start stop but what is wrong with pressing the switch as you drive off.?

It does deem a lot of work just to avoid pressing a switch.

It depends on how much you hate that particular function and can't be bothered to keep pressing the over-ride each time you drive I guess :) Thanks for reading my post.

Nice work Welsh Boyo.

I think you've done a great job of explaining that so that others will feel happy to have a go.

Thanks for your comment freedom - much appreciated - and actually it's not too much trouble to install in fact :)

why not use obdeleven to disable it without all that faffing around plus have functionailty to tweak other stuff as well? - only a few quid dearer

It's just another option for you to use it if you want :) I also tweak using VCDS but I didn't like fully disabling start stop - this option gives more flexibility. Thanks for reading my post!

it's a good device if you want to switch the stop / start back on sometimes, say in traffic  jams etc

but remember if you code it out with vcds,  you can still stop the engine the old way , just turn the key off

I prefer not to turn off the ignition as I have front and rear dashcams to record activity around me and these would stop recording if I did that :)  Anyway, thanks for reading my post.

turn the engine off

keep the key in ignition on position

In my case leaving the key in doesn't keep my cameras recording as they need ignition feed.

I guess it all comes down to preference. Turning ignition off then on again is not a sensible option for me, sorry.

fair enough, not knocking the device

but for me, coding it out is best as I would never turn it back on.

if you didn't have vcds, then it would also work out cheaper, with the added benefit of being able to turn it back on.

" coding it out is best as I would never turn it back on" - I have a lot of sympathy with that view! It may well be the most dangerous innovation dreamt up in recent years. Some evidence for that if you search on line. As for automatic driving cars - I'm with Clarkson on that one (and I rarely agree with him on everything - LOL).

I don't think on the 2019 this function can be turned off with a OBD reader correct me if I'm wrong

It can't - from maybe 2018 model year onwards (maybe even some 2017 MY cars) as VAG have made the previously known tweaks no longer work and nobody has found tweaks that do work.

I was afraid of that    but I have seen a wired chip interface that goes between the stop start switch on the console and it turns the switch on permanently me personally I don't want to go down that route unless I have to to I rather just cold it out but you have also corrected my suspicions that VAG group have now messed with this switch stopping people coding it out

At least with a hard wired switch there is still that option, but where it's a soft switch on the HVAC screen (like on the Octavia 4) there's no way to disable/remember stop/start.
