HELP!! Temperature Regulating Flap Motor - Left

Featured Replies

Anyone have any experience of removing and replacing the left-hand Temperature Regulating Flap Motor? When I scanned the car to get the part number of the slip ring that broke-up, the scan came back with an intermittent grounding issue with this, so I guess it's kaput.

Any help appreciated.

Yep, it's easy to change.

The servo you have to remove to slide the PTC element in is the temperature regulating servo (left).

Also see attached picture that has some more details.

My recirculate flap servo has failed, I'll be changing it this weekend, it's behind the glove box but I have to remove  a heap more stuff to get at it than the left temperature one.

If you don't have VCDS, you can perform a servo recalibrate by holding face-vent and AC buttons on until they start flashing.  If you have VCDS, you can just perform adaptation using that.

Thanks very much, Wokwon! Ok...

Dumb question.. is the left motor the one as viewed from the inside the cabin - so the one on the passenger side in our case - or looking at the car from the front?!?

I do have a real VCDS so I hope I can fathom the correct adaptation. Thanks once again for your reply!

I think it would be left, as in the one in the passenger seat footwell.  The problem is that ELSA doesn't always distinguish between left and right hand drive, although in that screenshot above it actually says right-hand drive for once.

Easy way to tell, plug in VCDS, open up output tests and perform an output test on the left servo.  If that one moves, then you're onto a winner.

Thanks again Wokwon. I'll give it a go. And sorry, I didn't notice you're in Oz, so we're already the right way round as it were! Did you change your recirculating flap servo?

Yep and it didn't fix the problem, so now I'm moving on to replacing the climate control panel.  Ebay lithuania to the rescue again.

Did you manage to order a replacement climate panel?

Yep, i've not got around to fitting it yet.  Too busy with work.

Anyone experienced such problem.

When I turn from high to low wheel seems to move freely.

But when I set temp  somewhere in the middle not high or low, it starts to play/stuck  (moving mm up down and at one point goes insane, wheel starts to move from open to close and it does not matter what settings set on the climate control.

Should I start looking problem from the flap actuator or might it be problem with a climate control module?
