Time to change !

Featured Replies

With the demonisation of diesel ( unfounded IMO), I have decided to change fuels, and used it as a reason to change from my 2nd Octy 3 to a Karoq Edition, 1.5 tsi, DSG. The Octavia's, both 1.6 TDI DSG have been brilliant, absolutely reliable and have never missed a beat during a combined mileage of 50k. I'm really looking forward to the Karoq ( collect it on Monday), but will miss the 55- 60mpg I regularly obtained on a decent run with the diesels ! So, farewell to the Octy community, wef Monday I'll be hopping over to the Karoq forum - best wishes from a frequent, and grateful, user of this Forum, it helped my knowledge immensely.

Good luck with the Karoq! You might be pleasantly surprised with the fuel economy of the 1.5 TSI, I think low 50s should be realistic on a run from what I've seen elsewhere. Hell, I even managed 55 in my 2.0 TSI once!

Only bugbear will be the Koroq's aerodynamics.

Our Yeti TSi was a good 10mpg behind our Octavia TSi when you got onto an A road run. Same engine, same driver.

We have an Ateca  (much better looking than the Karoq :giggle: ). Both engines are the same 1.4tsi albeit the Skoda doesn't have cylinder deactivation. Makes no difference whatsoever IMO.  The Ateca is used more for town driving but just as an example long range mpg in the Skoda is 52mpg, Long range in the Ateca is 41mpg. Yes Aerodynamics play a large role.

Question I keep asking myself, if I had to get rid of one of the cars which would I keep - an SE-L estate loaded with extras or the top grade Ateca?  I dunno.  What I do know however is in the 6mths I've had the Octavia, it's depreciated much more than the Ateca. ( which I was fully expecting ). Everyone wants SUV's I guess.

Good luck with your new car.

Our manual 1.5Tsi SEL Karoq averaged 44mpg over the first 3,000 miles and 48mpg upto it's current 6,000 mileage. Best effort over just 26 mile commute being 62.1MPG. Something to aim for?:o

Best achieved in our 1.2Tsi Spaceback Rapid was 64.6MPG on regular commute and Karoq 1.5Tsi (both 6 speed manuals) managed best of 62.1MPG on same road/same driver for comparison. Long term average actually better now for Karoq than Rapid!:wondering:

True about the depreciation and current demand for SUV's. Our Karoq set to lose just £12,500 over 4 years whereas my Octavia will lose £15,000 in 3 years!:crying:

Has the Octavia really deprecated that much in 6 months because some of the the new vrs models with £7-£8000 discounts available thro brokers?
