Start / Stop fault?

Featured Replies

Hello Everyone,

I'm trying to figure out if this is a fault or not, the car sometimes doesn't stop the engine when expected. I have selected the start/stop status screen in the menus and had many legitimate reasons why, except for one "Engine must be running"?

It is!!

Have a look at the photo, you can see the engine's rev's are idle and the computer seems to think the engine is not running?? I know the speed is 2 mph but it is the same at full stop.

Any ideas?

For stop/start to work, the engine needs to be up to temperature, the battery needs to be at a good level of charge, handbrake on, seatbelt on, off the pedals and in neutral.

If your revs are hanging at around 1000  when idling, it's possible it's prepping for a DPF regen so keeps the engine running so the engine/exhaust temp can reach the required level.

Check, Check, Check, Check.

Yep all complied with although i'm on a DSG with auto hold.

So I wonder if it is a DPF regen?? It could have said that on the screen rather than a misleading "engine must be running"

Thanks for the advise.

It is indeed the DPF regen, I have the same and if there is anything else stopping the S/S to work it usually tells me exactly what, but with the DPF regen it's just the general "engine must be running".
