Fluid leak - oil?

Featured Replies

Hi all, noticed a patch of leaked fluid where I usually park. Had a quick look under the car and it appears to be coming from the place shown in the images below. It's approx centre of the car towards the front but not directly under the engine bay. Ignore the play icon in the middle of the images, I screenshotted the video while paused.

I'm not mechanically minded, so can anyone advise what this is and if it's an issue seen before? I'm out of warranty so hopefully this won't be an expensive fix! It's DSG if that makes a difference and dealer serviced the box <3k ago.

It seems to be seeping rather than dripping, and I think I've only noticed it now because it hasn't been used much as I'm on paternity leave. Normally it gets used everyday so probably not left long enough to leave a ground patch.

Thanks

Might be an obvious question - have you checked levels?

Could be a number of things in that location, oil from the turbo, or turbo oil feed/oil return, banjo bolt.....

You need to get under the car and have a look but to be honest it doesn't look like there is a leak big enough to cause any marks on the floor.

Thanks both. Engine oil on the lower side but not critically low, still above min on the dipstick. All other fluids look fine - no way to measure DSG oil level but no issues or warnings.

Im hoping to get it on some ramps at the father in law's tomorrow to get a better look underneath. In the meantime I've parked it in another space to see if there's a patch on the ground tomorrow.
