skoda felicia ticking sounds

Featured Replies

Hi I have recently bought a 1.3 petrol manual felicia, 1998. 50,000 miles, she runs very well after my 1990 golf, power steering is a joy, One thing I have noticed. at low speeds say less than 35MPH, I get a ticking sound coming from the dashboard in front of the driver side it varies with speed, the ticking rate varies with the speed of the car at higher speeds you don,t hear it,

I JUST wondered if anyone out there can tell me what it is?

It's probably the odometer, I think my old Felicia used to do it if my memory servers me correct :) Nothing to worry about but a bit annoying.

Mine does it sometimes but I haven't managed to work out what it is over the past 5+ years.

it is the speedo cable you can remove the dash panel get a lump of grease and fill the speedo cable with it job done, the rattle is the inner cable slapping around the outer cable.

I've tried that a few times, if that doesnt work its the head. Was on my old Felicia.

o yes it does tried and tested my man, many many times no need for a new head .

Be sure to tell Dave that then, hell need to do it if the Fun bugs him too much (providing he picks it up sometime).

my last felicia ticked (95N) current one does too (99V) in fact as the 99 model is much better put together its the only thing you hear. You tune into it :( very annoying. Turn on radio and ignore it :)

The other felicia (1.9D) however has never done this, I am guessing its the way the cable is routed??? a twist someplace causing the ticking on the petrols?

My Felicia diesel did this.

I was looking forward to not listening to the noise in my Fabia.

But I have the annoying dash rattle instead.

Oh well the radio is better and goes louder ;)

My Fun does this, but only between 35 and 50mph!?

Pop the dash insert out (haynes will help) and pack the top end of the cable with grease, as our man K says usually sorts it out.

mine does that too, I find music works a treat ;) But hey that's a typical 25 yr old response to problems.... lol
