Meaning of Vehicle data carrier codes

Featured Replies

Inside my Fabia User Manual and inside the boot are stuck "Vehicle data carrier" labels. Do any of you expert Skoda techies know what the codes mean? I am including two files, one shows the label itself and one shows the codes listed against which I would like their meanings inserted.

This is not an urgent question but I thought others, as well as me, might be interested.Fabia Codes - Meaning of.pdf

Thanks for any help in this.

There's a link in here that may do a majority of those codes for you, try it and see:

The NJ33J4 is the so-called 'Type Code' of your car, I think, and the AMB may be short for 'Ambiente' if that's still a trim level in the Mk3 era?

They are normally called PR-codes and there are plenty of online decoders that'll help figure them out.

Be aware, the sticker is only a partial list so your vehicle will have many more. For example, my Octavia has 198 PR-codes.

A friendly dealer should be able to give you a full list and their "official" meanings. If not, for a few € you can download the "Vehicle-specific information" directly from Skoda at http://erwin.skoda-auto.cz

Thanks Wino - The link answered all but three of the codes. I can now see that the 'Descriptions' given are vague and don't give all that  much detail so I am not missing much. They probably mean a lot to the Skoda techies who have to replace like-for-like parts in an exact way.

If interested the codes not in the list are NJ33J4, AMB and CJZC but I don't expect people to go to any trouble to find the information since it is likely to be vague anyway.

Thanks for the help.

CJZC is your engine code.

AMB might suggest it's an ambition.

NJ3 means it's a fabia.

Not sure on the 3J4 bit afterwards, possibly the year code and other info.

I'm not an expert on the fabia so I'm happy to be corrected.

langers2k - Thanks for your input. The CJZC part is correct but your idea of splitting NJ33J4 into NJ3 and 3J4 gave me the idea of looking them up separately in Wino's VAG-codes list. I had previously looked for NJ33J4 which is not listed but splitting it up into the two parts gave the answer so thanks for planting the idea. NJ3 shows 'With charging dock (wall bracket) type 3' and 3J4 shows as 'Head restraints for front seats'. Still nothing comes up for AMB though.

Thanks once again.

I'm pretty sure that's not right. does your car have a charging dock?

It's not an electric vehicle. It's a 1.2TSI petrol. I thought the 'charging dock might refer to something else. There is another sticker in my car boot (I just discovered it) and on that label the NJ3 and 3J4 are shown as two separate codes rather than combined into NJ33J4. I attach an edited picture.1524665417_FabiaCodesfromBoot.thumb.JPG.1ed4f2d9fa8d5711fbd237c7bfe354aa.JPG

That's because NJ33J4 and AMB are not PR-codes... If they were, they would be with the other 3 character codes ;)

NJ is a Fabia, NJ3 is the hatchback and NJ5 would be an estate/combi.

AMB means Ambition which is a specification level although it may be called something else locally.

The only bit I'm not sure about the the 3J4 bit. I think when it's combined with NJ33J4 it becomes the 'sales model' which is a combination of chassis and specification.

ambition = se level, but that's on a yeti, may be the same though!

This info that gives you the full list of all PR codes used to get called "CAR DATA" I have always asked my dealer's parts department for a print out which they always did for free, though my VW dealer's parts department does not seem to understand what this is for my wife's August 2015 Polo, so was of no help, I must try again as having this complete list can be very handy in the future when using motor factors for parts.
