Air con condensate

Featured Replies

On previous makes of cars there is usually a pool of water under the car where the condensate drips from the air conditioning. My Roomster does not have a pool of water underneath so where does the condensate go?

YEAH! Finally another person having the same inquiry like I do.

Well, I lifted the bonnet and then kept running my engine and my a/c. Then I found out that drippings were going on the plastic cover that is underneath the engine. Also I found out that the water was evaporated almost by the time touched the cover.

A/C works fine and no humidity on passenger's footwell.

Hi Edbostan,

This has never concerned me, the aircon works, job done!

Have seen drip pools from other cars, but never from mine, usually 'cos I'm on the move and enjoying the aircon;

Big, untinted windows definitely needs aircon in this hot weather, even if it does worsen the MPG a little.....

I'd be worrying if the aircon stops working!  Just have to try to remember to run it for at least 10 minutes per week, all year round, gather that it keeps the vital seals lubricated and doing their job.

Richard.

Pleased that others find the same. It is just that perhaps I had a blocked drainage hole. Mine works extremely well and really cold so no worries

Probably comes out of a short pipe under a 'dome' of sound insulation material just next to where the heater matrix pipes go through the firewall onto the matrix itself. Because the drain drips onto this sound insulation, it probably evaporates before reaching the ground due to engine bay heat.

My climate control is always on even in winter, car 4 years old now never had a regas, still icy cold. Use it or the system seals degrade, folks worry too much about fuel economy, it's negligible, put against the cost of a system service/repair. Mine likes to dribble onto drive or wherever when stopped:o
