rear anti roll bar

Featured Replies

I am thinking of fitting one of these to my Octy. However what i want to do is get one off a Mk4 Golf if possible.

What i need to know is which model of golf would have a rear anti roll bar that will fit my Octy??

Cheers

Not sure, but the eiback 25mm one makes a hell of a difference..

Phil;)

So does the Neuspeed 28mm adjustable one..

No standard Golf will have an anti roll bar for your rear if thats what your getting at.

the anti roll bar is built into the rear beam as standard, after market one bolts to the rear beam.

ok i see. I am sure i read somewhere on here that someone had got one off a Golf thats why i went down that route. Maybe i was mistaken.

How much am i looking at for an aftermarket one??

I think the Eibach 23mm one is around

Are there any tangible, real-world benefits to fitting an upgraded rear anti roll bar to an Octavia? I assume that the rear beam will have some 'anti-roll' effect any way. Does an increase maake the back end a bit skittish?

I'd be be interested in adjusting the handling without going to the expense of replacing the springs and dampers. Assuming that the dreaded insurance isn't affected yet further.... Which I'm sure i will be...

Rob - be warned, your car is an Elegance spec is it not ? The front ARB is not as stiff as a VRS so you may fit it makes the back a bit skittish. Others have fitted a rear ARB only to VRS models and found it makes a difference but I suspect it wouldnt be so good on an Elegance.

Front ARB's are expensive though and the VRS one wont just fit straight on either.

True, but Eibach do a front and rear kit. Works quite well from what I've heard ;) You get nearly all the comfort of standard suspension, but without the roll. My friend's ones on his L&K are 3.5 times stiffer at the front and just over 4 times stiffer at the rear than the standard one IIRC, therefore much stiffer than the RS ones :D

Yep, thats the way to do it but it can work out a lot more expensive than doing just the rear. Someone I know was lucky enough to pick up a rear one for less than £100 for his VRS, the front and rear setup including bushes has got to be nearing £500 surely?

Also, got any part numbers for the kit ? ;)

A very well known techie fitted a Neuspeed 28mm Adjustable rear ARB, together with eibach springs (25mm drop) to standard shocks, and powerflex bushes to the standard front ARB on my Octy vRS, totally transformed the handling for very reasonable money.

Might be of interest to MC Bodge.

isn't the front one a pig to fit too??

All i am after trying to achieve is to make the car turn in a bit quicker. I assumed this was the way to go but perhaps it is going to be more expensive than i can cope with at the minute:O

That is exactly what I'm thinking Rob. Yes, the front one is a pig to fit :( Currently saving for a front and rear pair + fitting.

Certainly does..... It may have to wait for finances though....

How easy are the bushes to change?

How easy are the bushes to change?

 I just wondered the same thing and have started another thread for that question ;)

They could be straight-forward, as they were on the Focus, or....

Not easy would be the simple answer. Did mine on my old one. Luckilly the Eibach kit comes with new ARB bushes due to its larger diameter

How easy are the bushes to change?

Very easy for a very well known techie..............:D :D :D :D

If there was a Haynes manual it would probably say,

"remove bushes, a special tool to insert the new bushes can be fabricated with a paper-clip"

It can't be that hard....
