Skoda fabia vrs oil light fault

Featured Replies

Just been to pick up my car from garage. They have replaced clutch dual mass flywheel. Crankshaft position sensor and oil and filter. Now the oil light warning light comes on as soon as the car is revved. They have replaced the oil pressure switch and it's still the same. Car seems to be okay although I'm not sure if the pressure has been checked with a proper gauge or not. I have been told that this may well be swarf in the sump pick up pipe but the car was absolutely fine prior to this fault? Could this be something simple? Or is this a common fault?

1st step is to find that out.

What oil was used, and what filter fitted?

Shell helix 5w/30 with a Bosch filter (I sourced these)

I'd strongly recommend establishing that the pressure really is OK, but after that's done, it may just be a busted wire on the way to the pressure switch.

The state of the switch is only 'looked at' above 1500 rpm AFAIR, and 'pressure OK' is the closed contact state of the switch, so a wiring break will show 'pressure low' warning, but only above 1500 rpm, I believe. I think if it happens 3 times within a short while the alarm state latches on though.
