A pillar trim loose

Featured Replies

Hi outhere,

I have a Superb mk3, bulid november 2016.

I have noticed that the A pillar trims on both sides are a bit loose, or better said do not fit well - they came off for about 3mm. See the attached picures. Windscreen wasn't replaced. I had the same issue with Octavia mk3 which I owwned before.

Did anyone noticed the same with their Superb? Did you claim it under warranty and how was it solved?

Thank you, Robert

They're not meant to fit tight as they have airbags behind them and is why they are reasonably easy to pull off without the need for any tools. You may have a loose, misaligned or broken clip.

Have you tried removing and refitting them to check?

Not been a problem with my September 2015 car and I've removed them a couple of times when investigating possible wiring routes.

Maybe clips are just a bit loose. Just press it back in place with your hand and see if it fixes the problem.

I have already tried to push then back but without success. Haven't tried to remove them though, because I am afraid I will break something and the car is still under warranty.

I am aware that there are airbags behind and the trim should come off easily, but should fit tight anyway. I have driven and seen a lot of other cars and they all have the trims fitting tight.

I would not worry about it.

I have driven numerous mk3 superbs lately (courtesy cars) and almost all have trim parts misaligned.  Mostly its the trim around the dash/cockpit area which is very noticeable.

This does not solve your issue but when put into perspective a lot of these cars roll off the production line with these 'bespoke' issues.

Thank you for that.

I am a bit dissapointed as the Superb isn't realy a cheap car and it seems the built quality does not match its price.

I fully agree: quality does not match the price and I feel that all new cara are the same!

I don't know, there are some really bad things about Superb's quality, but some are really awesome. I killed mosquito yesterday and it got blood on pillar and I had to remove it to clean it off, what I found bellow was surprisingly good cable management. Even some soft foam glued to pillar

P.S.: I also removed windscreen ticket holder, it was making noise over certain terrains and it was soo damn annoying... I did same on my mothers Octavia.

So just the two clips holding it in then?

Yes, but you need to pull it slightly upwards because its kind of held in by dashboard

Cheers for that!

I know this is a very old thread but I just wanted to confirm that on my 2016 Octavia the A pillar trims are also loose. I have verified the clips and everything is in order but they're not tight. Is this considered normal? Does anyone else have this issue?

The clips that hold the A pillar trim are technically 1 time use and should be replaced - albeit no on does, replace the clips and report back your findings :)

I replaced the clips yet it's still not a tight fit. However it is a little better...

I removed the A-pillar trim, a few years ago, to run the dashcam wire down it.

The clips were fine to re-use and the trim piece itself is nice n solid in it's place.

Have the exact same issue. The trims seem secure but not tight....
