The handle to operate the opening behind the rear seat armrest broke. It was replaced by the local dealer under warranty. It broke again and I am informed that the handle cannot be bought separately and that the whole assembly will cost just under £500!. Has anyone else experienced a similar problem? The handle can be seen (circled) in the attachment.

When the handle broke first time did the dealer fit the complete unit ( £500 ). if not can you ask the dealer to source you handle ?

 

If not try a Scrap Yard 

I don't think so. Apparently the handle is on a 'back order' [not sure what that means] but I'm sure if it cost approx £500 they would have mentioned it.
