door handles

Featured Replies

Hi ,

I have a MK3 110 Elegance 2014. Since having the car from new i noticed that 3 of the external door handles will not open if i make a sudden pull in a slight upward trajectory which sometimes can happen naturally. The only door which will open at any trajectory is the driver side. Has anyone else had this issue?

Same problem. Did you resolve this?

No I didn’t resolve it. I went to Skoda dealership a few days ago ( book car for air bag recall) and took the opportunity to raise the issue again. I went on the forecourt and looked at similar cars and they all had the same issue the newer cars were fine. After this the Skoda guy admitted that this was a problem but couldn’t do anything. He advised that one person did have their handle replaced but to no effect.

Bottom line i believe this is a manufacturing defect.

Either this is a major event or dealers in Australia are  working to a different set of rules compared with those in force in UK.

That's more like what were used to.

A manufacturing defect becasue you’re trying to force the handle in a direction it wasn’t designed for..?

look if you pull the door handle out straight it moves in a upward direction itself .This is when sometimes a JAM occurs. I have owned many cars and this is the first i have experienced this stupid annoying problem. I’d say 1 in 3 people who get in the car experience this issue. Skoda obviously realised this is a stupid design and not followed it through with newer cars.
