Water ingress - passenger footwell

Featured Replies

For the reference of future generations of Skoda owners, I thought I

would share this experience.

I've had problems with my Octavia leaking water into the passenger

footwell - after 3 hours of rain, a pool of water would have collected. This

would then slowly dry out, making the car windows permanently misted,

and causing a funny smell.

Several trips to the dealer, and it seems to be resolved. They'd checked

the usual problem areas, such as the pollen filter casing, various gaskets

and the drain holes, all of which appeared to be fine. The last visit

turned up a problem that hadn't been noticed before - beneath one of the

drain holes under the windscreen scuttle, there was a plastic tube

missing. The purpose of this tube is to carry the water down to the bottom

of the wing, rather than just letting it flow down into the passenger

footwell!

So far, so good and dry!

I do apologise if my description is innaccurate - I haven't looked myself,

just tried to pick up the gist of what the service manager told me

Good to hear they sorted it, and you are rid of the astra!!

btw, your sticker is on its way! :)

Cheers Ian - it probably has already arrived, but the postman doesn't

deliver until after I've left!

Attempted to put some Xenon bulbs in this lunchtime after your

recommendation, but it didn't work. Would have helped if I'd got the

right size bulbs though!

H4 - can't recall the number but went off the "guide" that halfords have dangling nr the bulbs.

So did I, but I still managed to pick up 477s instead of 472s.

I really am so dopey sometimes!
