VRS or Superb?

Featured Replies

So earlier in The year we brought a 2010 Octavia scout. Recent weeks I'm thinking of swapping the Kuga too. We're thinking either the mk2 Octavia VRS or maybe the Superb. Again due to money we would be looking at the £9000 Mark. Just looking for people's opinions on both to help decide.

Thanks in advance

Interesting Q?...

We've owned both, my Superb 2.0 TSi & her vRS Mk 2 FL 2.0 TSi, at the same time for approx 3 years so daily back to back comparisons were possible

Both cars DSG, & remapped by AMD Technik, her car was older & with more miles, it made 257 bhp, whilst the Superb only managed 249 bhp,.

In normal use, the Octy was about 8-10% better mpg, but the Superb was much quieter & more refined. Not much increase in boot space than the Octy  but the bigger car

has BIG legroom front & rear.

In real-world driving the vRS would be quicker in the twisties but on normal roads the Superb always felt a much nicer car to be in.

Never really managed to measure their performance. both cars had too much power / torque to get off the line without drama on a wide open throttle

but apart from that, plenty quick enough for fun & economical if required.

FWIW, she sold the the Octy in Feb, 2016 (replaced it with a Golf R Estate, a bit OOT perhaps, but fun / sensible.......) & I still own my Superb, some 5 1/2 year after

buying it.......

Plenty of diesel Mk 2 Superbs out there but not so many 2 litre petrol Superbs. Probably the same if you choose the Octy.
