Traction control fault??

Featured Replies

My Toledo is giving me grief I'm afraid to say after being ultra reliable for 4 years.

First off it went into limp mode and threw up the traction control light with the EPC light, stopping and restarting cleared things and everything was fine again. Four weeks on it's been ok then throws up the same lights again, same remedy turn off on again and we are clear.  So another 3 weeks on and yesterday we have it back only this time it throws up an engine management light (emissions) too and a short trip down the road and the lights are back on in minutes this time not 3/4 weeks interval.

So we have a problem, traction control, emissions leads to what??

Yep I know I will first off need the codes read but anyone else had similar happen Rapid/Toledo and a remedy, I just know this is going to lead to change this and that sensor and maybe a rising bill, just confused with the traction light and coupled with the emissions light??

Thanks for the above, I've had a quick read, will do more later.

I now have a fault code P2138 which doing a search points to throttle/pedal sensor or associated connections. I used a basic OBD2 code reader which surprisingly worked after I located the port, I knew that may come in handy when I bought it for my daughters car but never used it.  I can't get anything specific to the Toledo only the older models, still it gives me something  positive to look at but the plug leads give me another area to search.

If all fails I will have the SEAT dealer take a look but in the meantime my local lads down the garage will give me advice they are pretty good but they may direct me to SEAT techs.

Read the above thread through, mine being a 2014 model has the protected plug leads, all four covered in plastic corregated sheath as in one of those pictures.

My car doesn't actually run rough just goes into limp mode and the lights appear. I'm going to take plug leads off to check the ends for corrosion , I've checked all known electrical plugs I can see and the throttle sensor at the pedal, all seems ok and firmly plugged in, no way of knowing if they need replacing though?

I still don't get the why the traction control light appears on some 1.2TSi engines and throws up a fault which is rectified by renewing plug leads, confused??

Well we are having a new battery fitted as it was found to be not up to the job when tested. Code reads say throttle position sensor, we aren't going down that route yet as it's not thought to be the problem.

Three times I had the traction light trigger yesterday in a short distance, could I get it to trigger today after a 10 mile journey before ending up at the local garage :wall:

This is very similar to a problem I'm experiencing at the moment, I drive a 2017 Toledo 1.0 petrol engine car. Setting off for work and the moment the ignition button was pressed mayhem. The parking sensor bleeped, engine ran badly and 3 warning lights remained on, together with the yellow triangle indicating there is a problem. The ESC, Tyre Pressure and EPC lights. I switched off the engine and checked the tyres, no visible problems, re-started the engine, switched off the parking sensors and gently increased revs. Drove to work like this, no stop-start, no cruise control, hill-hold, OBC refused me access to re-set the tyre pressure monitor. When I set off for home the engine management light stayed on as well, won't drive a car with this warning light illuminated. Battery will be good, car is only 14 months old, daily commute is 38 miles each way.

Change the throttle sensor and see if this does the trick.

^^^ You must be in warranty with that one.

Yes, and upgraded to 5 years / 90k miles too (never will understand Skoda offered a greater mileage for their Rapids!).

Throttle sensor changed, normal service has resumed. I was lent a Mii (Citigo when wearing a Skoda badge), nice little car, kept up on the motorway, but pleased to have own car back.
