Blower Motor Part Number Problem - 54 Elegance

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

I have a bit of a quandary. The blower in my car stopped working, although the display still works on the radio stating that the temperature/speed has been changed, it's just that nothing happens. It does not blow any air on any setting. I am driving a 54 plate elegance with climatronic.

I removed the blower motor and gave it a good clean with electrical cleaner, but sadly, it still appears to be dead.

I am trying to order a replacement, although I am now paranoid about ordering the wrong part!

I have messaged a few sellers on ebay - one had a part with these two numbers that match my own sticker with the part number, so I emailed him. He said that it would not fit my car !?!

The numbers are 1K2820015 and F983229J. VW and Valeo part numbers I believe.

How do i know which blower motor will fit my car?

Cheers,

Joe.

Part number search on Skoda Parts gives an Octavia heater fan with resistor Climatronic 2004-2013:

http://www.skodaparts.com/product/octavia-heater-fan-with-resistor-climatronic-2004-2013-50415

Alternatively, have a root around the online parts catalogue at 7zap:

https://skoda.7zap.com/en/cz/octavia/oct/2004-419/8/820-820020/#1

I think you're looking for 1K2 015 820 F - fan for vehicles with electronically controlled air conditioning RHD

Or a category search on fleabay may give you some options:

He was probably looking at current part numbers, which for your car is listed as 1K2820015F in sites like 7zap; however, the number on yours, and the ebay one, without any suffix, is a direct 'ancestor' of the suffix-F part, and as such, will fit your car. In fact, for Skoda cars, the suffix F has been superseded to a suffix G, suggesting that 7-zap isn't fully up to date.

OEMwolf.com is a handy site for looking up superseding info. If you type in the 1k2820015 number in the search box, you'll find it keeps suggesting superseding part numbers for the results until it gets to the suffix-G (for Skoda). Any of the ones with suffix A, D, E, F or G should also fit.

Thanks for this! I've been having some fun of my own on the sore_nose_Octy project and this site should help clear up some uncertainties for me.

Its really easy to test the motor insitu, at the back of the motor in the footwell there is a 2 spade multiplug - remove that and run a couple of cables to the pins observing polatity.

I usually use a second battery in the footwell saves finding long lengths of cable.

If it runs a full speed its fine, time to look elsewhere.

The climatronic system will stop the fan running if there is faults with the flap motors or the speed regulator/controller etc. Motors themselves seem fairly reliable.

Firstly, thanks to all of you for the sage advice. I've been fiddling with it for the last couple of days, but no joy.

The fuse was fine, I ordered a blower motor from an autospares guy on ebay as a bit of a punt - he did it for £25, which was decent for the climatronic version. Unfortunately, I've fitted it and no joy.

When I test the climatronic I get an fr.8 code. There is a picture of a fan between the fr and the .8.

Any ideas?

Scott, thanks for the info on testing the fan. Could you elaborate please? When you say run two cables, what type of cables? Also, when you say use a spare battery, what type?

Apologies if these are noob questions. I've changed quite a few things on cars, but never really had to test anything (like the motor) using a battery, but I'm learning fast. Talk to me as though I was 5 years old!

I've mined the forum, but I'm coming up short on this one.

Thanks again to all. Your advice is greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Joe.

 Here is the VCDS report...

Looking at VCDS report, check the flap motor fuse which is different from the blower fuse.

Try top row right hand side mini fuse iirc.  If its blown and replacing it blows it again, one of the flaps is jammed.

Post how you get on, I can answer your questions if this is not the right direction.

Air con not working as gas pressure low but won't effect general operation.

Nice one, Scott.

I'll give that a try tomorrow. Just for info in case it would have any bearing on things, I took it for an aircon regas a few weeks ago and the garage said the aircon pump has gone. Is that the compressor? Not too fussed about fixing that anyway, especially with the current climate!

I'll post an update tomorrow.

Yes, its the compressor.  Wouldn't have any impact on your current problems.

Hi Scott,

A couple of things to note...

I've checked the fuses and one of them blows immediately. No blower action at all. It is the 4th fuse from the right on the top row (5A), as pictured below. I've had a look at this fuse layout thread from Micmac and it says it's the airbag. Seems unusual.  Any thoughts on that?

Also, tried the heater flap reset many times. Flashes fr.8 etc and symbols, but I can't hear anything moving/ calibrating.

Any ideas gratefully received.

Cheers,

Joe.

Which fuse is the one that blows ?  Turn off the blower by setting the fan to off  then replace the fuse - does it blow ?

Do you have VCDS ?  Under HVAC you probably have outputs you can drive - not used them myself but find the ones that do the flaps and go through each one until you find the one that blows the fuse.

I'd not worry about the location too much - if you count 4 from the other end you finish on the 10 amp.

Be wary of the information you come across, a good deal of it is dubious. Learn to use it as guidance.
