Front Interior Light operation working correctly?

MK1 Fabia sdi. No Central locking,or Alarm.

For the first time in the dark I opened the front passenger door,and the front interior light did not come on. It comes on when the drivers door is opened. Is this normal,or is it a problem with the microswitch in the passenger door lock?

Could be; or a broken wire in the door bellows coming from that microswitch.  Have a look for a broken brown/yellow wire going into a brown 6-way connector at the (left) A pillar.
