OIl Change Warning Reappearing

Featured Replies

Wondered if anyone had experience with the following. We have just recently acquired a 2015 Skoda Yeti from a Skoda dealer. After 9 days (and approx 4-500 miles) the Oil Change alert appears on the MFD. Thinking that this had been forgotten on the pre-sales check we reported this to the dealer and this was reset. 9 days later (and another 500 miles, following a weekend excursion), the alert has reappeared.

Anyone any experience witha similar issue and if so, what was the solution?

You call in or they send someone out that knows what they are doing to reset the Service Indicator correctly.

Charge them for your expenses if you have to go back in.   The next Service free would be a good idea, done by someone that knows what they are doing.

PS,

The Pre Sales check on a Skoda Approved Used car is a Safety Check supposedly,  so was there a Service Carried out to the Manufacturers Guidelines before delivery?

@Surrey_Skoda - Can you see if there is any evidence of the oil filter having been changed recently?

Check the oil on the dipstick, firstly is it correct level (between the notches), and secondly what does it look like, is it like syrup, a dark liquid, or even worst a dark gritty goo.

If levels are wrong, needs correcting

or it looks like last category then appears reset was done without full oil change, so get oil changed by supplying dealer (and ask for printout of electronic service record, as this may show other service items due)

Many thanks to those responding. The oil looks fresh and at appropriate levels and according to the maintenance sheet the oil filter was changed prior to purchase.

The vehicle is being checked next week back at the dealers and will keep you all posted on the outcome. Many thanks.

If there are any other ideas though, would be very interested in what they could possibly be.

This happened on two successive yearly main dealer services on my 2014 Yeti. On each occasion after about 30 days the warning came up. I returned it and on the first occasion the problem came back a month later. Very annoying when you get a bong and warning every time you turned the ignition on, 800 miles from home and away for a month. Second year they managed to correct it after a month using a "hot fix", which I believe is an alternative way of resetting the log.

I seem to recall Skoda UK saying a glitch sometimes happened but unless the dealer reported it then the software for resetting would not be updated and could reoccur.

I have since had a non main dealer service and all has gone well.
