How does it work?

The Turbonator

I've been in a car with one of these bags of ****e on.

All it did was draw enough electrical current to dim the interior and more worryingly the headlights of the car when you put your foot down. The effect was so dramatic that for a moment you can't see where you are going, and it happens everytime you apply the throttle to accelerate.

Any improvements in power went un-noticed besides the terror of losing sight of the road ahead at 70 mph on an unfamiliar road............

yes they are **** they dont work !!

a leaf blower would work but thats a little hard to use while driving

Absolute bull-hocks, I'm afraid. It might well induce a vortex downstream of the air filter, but once the air stream's got past the throttle body (petrol cars only, of course!) and through the inlet manifold, I reckon you'd be hard-pressed to tell the difference. Plus, any item that sits in the air stream is going to generate a pressure drop across it, so from that point of view, all you're doing is inserting an obstruction into you air intake.

Wouldn't bother personally - go for one of these instead!

(I know it's a repost... :D )

Get a proper turbo! :D

Words taken, I won't get them then! :(

:D

It might have worked on a really old-fashioned engine (think pushrods and carburettors), but on a fuel-injected motor, there wouldn't be much (if any) benefit...

If you really want to take things further with your car, maybe you should look to see if you can find a scrapyard with a rear-ended VAG car with a 1.8T in it!
