Enable SmartLink

It can be done outside the dealer network but it costs the same and you’d have to remove the radio and send it away in most cases. The most you should pay is £137 as the part is £122 with 15-20 mins fitting time. Apple CarPlay is good, very good in fact and I use it regularly on my car which I retrofitted a MIB2 into. What it gives you over the standard radio (which is very good at many things) is text support, full control of music streaming services like Amazon and Spotify and a full screen display of Apple Maps and in a few weeks you’ll be able to get Google Maps and Waze as well thanks to iOS 12. It looks like this :)

Hi, you just replaced main unit, left the old display?
Was it just plug&play or it requires change on wiring as well?
I was thinking to do the replacement myself if it doesn't require wiring change.

Thank you in advance.

Hello

Please help with advise on the following question, I have an Octavia MK3 2015 with MIB2 Amundsen hardware H24 and Software 0253, 5Q0035874A, it does not have Smartlink activated. I am wondering if I activate Smartlink at dealership, would it work with newer phone models? like Samsung Galaxy S2x series? I undestand that newer Infotaintment systems work but what about older ones? are these compatible with new android phones?

Thanks a lot!

Sadly no. With the Swing, it is a very basic unit. If you willing to invest in a MIB2/2.5 Bolaro unit (with matching screen), then this unit can be made to work. You will need to speak with @pab567 who will be able to furnish you with a unit and screen as necessary (but you have to be knowledgeable with electronics and coding).

Well, looking at the unit I'm not 100% sure. Pls share VIN.

Well, assuming there is no bug in the catalogue, activation is available for your unit - see screenshot below.

Make one more check. Go to service mode (long press SETUP button) then FEC/SWaP codes then supported codes.

Is there an alternative to get the license cheaper, directly from factory etc? Can I activate the license myself with obdeleven?

My dealer said that its going to be 275 euros. That is just for SmartLink, not sure if its going to enable the Android Auto and CarPlay.

Found an alternative way which is complicated: https://youtu.be/rkEOTRyYsvI?si=YeTq3jwvFojstLK0

Hi,by activating smart link you will have access to android auto and Apple car play. I didn't look at the video you posted but I'm assuming it's relating to cracking the unit,it can only be done if you have a unit on the glove box with 2 sd cards.i have my unit cracked and everything works fine.

Yes, this is what I found out also. Thanks for confirming. My unit is with 1 SD card, no nav and the only way to crack it(yt video) is by doing some soldering on the unit which is way more complicated which I don't want to try.

Contacted my dealer and got confirmation that smart link includes android auto and carplay. I ordered the activation and booked service time at the dealer for activation.
