SE or SE L?

Featured Replies

Don't bother, it's not a patch on the Kodiaq.  When I test drove one before going for the Kodiaq, it was a bumpy uncomfortable ride, hard seats, and the steering wheel is the size of a small biscuit tin. So it makes driving feel quite unnatural, plus you can't rest your elbow on the door sill.  The gear selector on the auto is shaped like a Fab lolly, and when you put it into park I got my fingers trapped underneath it.  But mainly the ride comfort is nowhere near that of the Kodiaq.

  • The LED lights of the SEL over the basic halogen lights of the SE would swing my choice any day of the week.

  • I've just joined the Kodiaq Qlub!    My local dealer told me today that they've got an SE L 2.0 tdi automatic being delivered next month. Petrol blue with beige leather (brave) and ACC. £26,

  • I would say are the extras on the SEL worth it to you? Would you like the electric opening boot, alcantara heated  front seats, Wi-fi hotspot onboard, full LED lights and the KESSY full system to name

But Peugeot are following the trend of hiding all the buttons in the screen.

I wouldn't fancy trying to tweak my temps on the motorway or twisties.

A deal breaker for me.

Fair point. Plus the cup holders are too close to the gearstick, which would get on my nerves.

The elbow thing sounds like it would be a nightmare for me. Those little annoyances that can ruin a car.

A couple more questions:

What is the SE Tech? Seen a couple of used ones. I don't know what that trim level is like in comparison to SE and SE L.

Also, I've just seen an ex managers demo Edition with 5k miles for £25900. Essentially the same price as I'd be paying for an SE L. Thoughts on stepping up a trim level for no greater outlay? Obviously it's done 5k miles, but it seems a good deal. It's a 2.0tdi 7 seater...

If colour isn't an issue. The managers former Edition may well be worth. I bought a former staff car. My fabia monte Carlo for a really good price with only 1000 miles on it and it was only 6 months old which was nice.

All in the 5k miles is not all that much. Maybe ask if you can give it a test drive along with a brand new one. Better versed members than me will be able to set you straight on what to look out for :)

I've enquired about petrol models in carwow - £24.5k for the 1.4 DSG SE L, so not that far away from the diesel. HOWEVER, for a 1.4 tsi manual in SE trim, but with the below options plus the chrome pack I've been quoted £22,300. Which seems pretty good:

It isn't the colour I'd choose, but I'm not too bothered about that.

Dealer just confirmed that the lead time for the manual petrol SE as above is 19 weeks and it would be the 1.5.

Been offered £27,318 on carwow for a 2.0 TDI DSG SE L in Quartz Grey with digital instrument cluster, rear camera, front sensors and leather trim. Finance would work out at £272 per month over 48 months, with a £6700 deposit and final payment of £10,880. Will have a play around with deposit amounts etc to see what fits best, but that seems a decent deal.

Similarly specced 5008 comes in at £311 a month...

I've never used finance before  always paid cash and only ever 10-12 grand. Brave new world for me.

Hi again Jamie, seems a decent spec - but I reckon you can do better than that price wise.

I paid £27,500 give or take a few pounds for a

2.0TDI Edition (admittedly 2WD)
rear camera
ACC - (consider adding this to your spec - it is great)
spare wheel
Personalised keys (can't remember the official name)

This did include the skoda contribution of £2k AND a £1k fuel card - I know these have finished - but there may be something comparable.

Good Luck -

That's a cracking deal. I've been offered £27,800 for an edition in velvet red, only extra being front sensors.

I'd go for that one in that case..  £500 more - Edition spec (which comes with leather anyway)

Not sure you will need the rear camera in any case - It's OK - but wing mirrors are pretty good.

And the more expensive velvet red  - I'm not a massive fan - but there won't be many of them on the road due to the additional premium.

There are also a couple of low mileage used Editions for around 25/26k. Without a 6 month wait :D

Just trying to compare different specs, but looking at lists of hundreds of features is making me go all cross eyes! Anyone off the top of their head know what the SE Technology has that the SE doesn't, and what it doesn't have that the SE L does? Am I right in thinking it's basically an SE but with nav and front sensors?

Pretty much, as far as I know.

One thing to take into account, however, is that the SE Tech is usually aimed squarely at business users, so is quite often not included in the retail customer offers / discounts (e.g. fuel card, test drive discount, deposit allowance, etc.).

Thanks both, appreciate it.

Looking at 3 used Kodiaqs (what's the plural? Kodiai?) this weekend - a Scout, an Edition and an SE L. Covering all bases! I don't fancy a 6 month plus wait, and it seems that there isn't much in the way of new stock in the UK. I've already had one dealer drop a grand off the ticket price and all I had done was email him back to say I couldn't afford it.

Watch for stock maybe appearing later this month. Maybe cars built before June this year.

A dealer mentioned the other day that 2000 are expected to be released soon. I'll try and find out more tomorrow. Certainly not in a rush, and if they can get me a new SE L for 25 grand then I'll happily give them my firstborn.

Released from where?

I presumed he meant that there are 2000 factory built Kodiaqs ready to be sent over to the UK for general stock, but I don't know how it works. I might be miles off.

Interesting. That might suggest Skoda were well aware of the impending disaster the delayed WLTP testing is causing and pre-built loads of stock.

To have 2,000 right hand drive Kodiaq's pre-built and sat in a field somewhere isn't normal.

I wonder why they have to drip feed them, you'd think they'd provide visibility of all available cars to their dealer network to sell as many as possible.

The worry being that they expect the delays to go on for even longer than we fear, and are rationing stock to ensure continued, albeit limited supply.

The other possibility is that he was lying to me to get me to come to the showroom. Which worked.

Face to face with a dealer today. Interesting. Delivery time of 12 weeks for 2.0 150 DSG Kodiaqs, he showed me the order page and everything.

Interestingly I also looked at a Karoq. Delivery time of 33 weeks, with the exception of one they have coming in 6 weeks. A little part of me is tempted by it, although I wonder if it'll be a bit small or lack power with 2 kids and a full boot.

Something led you to look at the Kodiaq first, don't let 'new car excitement' get in the way.
