Coded DRL's after headlight recall

Featured Replies

Guys, is there anyone who had their drl lights coded to so called audi style drls using vcds prior to getting headlights recall done? Did the software update influence the drl settings?

Please elaborate

do you mean sweeping indicators, dimming  DRL when indicating or something else?

Yes, this is what  I mean:

personally - that doesn't look good.  but its not my car.........

and when i think Audi style DRLs, i'm thinking the sweeping/dynamic/progressive version with the turn signals.

again, my thinking is not ur thinking........

but either way, yes - most likely the software fix for the headlights did wipe your previous coding.

while there are two control modules (under the headlight), it is likely they re-coded both.

- AFS power module (8U0 941 329) - controls the light beam tilt servos, and cornering lights.  SLA capable headlights have a different AFS power module.

- LED Control module (4G0 907 397 Q) - controls daytime running lights

considering the DRLs are also the indicators on the Superb III, i won't be surprised if this was touched/reset/reintialised etc etc etc

Thank your for reply, but you might have misunderstood me a litle bit. The thing is that right now I have the DRLs coded on my car, and my car has to do the headlights recall. So, I want to make sure that the coded DRLS won't go back to stock after doing the recall reprogramming. Cos if that is the case, I will have to find vcds to code the drls again after doing the recall. And I dont wanna do that since to my perception headlights are working just fine right now, but if the recall won't influence DRLS, then I would just do the recall now.

If there is a 'Recall' then a letter should arrive at the Registered Keepers address.   If a Skoda Racall Action it should be here http://master.skoda-auto.com/mini-apps/recall-actions

If a TPI and a Service Campaign then who knows unless a Dealership Calls keepers they have details for or the vehicle is in the Dealership for work.

did/will - same to same. ;)

in theory - the recall should only update the software on the AFS module, and not touch the LED module.  hence ur coding should remain intact.

but i don't know how the coding is applied to headlights software.  i don't know the algorithm/programming logic behind it all.

the recall could either write to a specifc headlight module
or

it could write to both modules, treating them as "one" collectively.

hence i won't be surprised if both modules get reset/updated during the recall, and ur DRLs revert to stock like behaviour.

alternatively, u can tell the dealer/service folks not to apply the headlight software recall - assuming u have the option to "deny".

i would b surprised if u can deny any manufacturer issued recalls.

when i took my car for its first service, 2 months ago, they advised me, when i dropped it off, that they'll be carrying out two (2) software recalls, one of them being the headlight recall - 94K1.

I noticed a difference to my daytime running lights after the headlight update was applied earlier this year.

From factory the daytime LEDs would fade back to on after the indicator was cancelled but after the headlight update this no longer happens.  Instead the daytime LEDs now simply switch back on at once after the indicators (much like they switch off when starting to indicate), so some coding change happened to disable the fade.

I've yet to try and investigate what this change might've been as I'm not too fussed about it.  Has anybody else noticed this change?

My DRL still fades in after the indicating is finished......

Ok, I did the headlights recall last week at the dealer. So, my code audi style DRLS were reset to factory settings after the recall. But I didn't care much, since I've already bought VCDS and recoded the DRLS again)
